Happy Canada Day

Yesterday was sunny and hot.

After a month of rain, more than double what we normally get here in Calgary, it was a relief.

I finally went for a trim and bought a pair of sandals that I can wear with my sundresses.

The hairdresser began by making me feel slightly like I was in a confessional when she asked me how long it had been since my last haircut.

“Months”.  ”A long time”.  ”I’m not really sure of exactly how long.” I responded with a sheepish grin.  After reassuring me she had seen worse, she proceeded to tell me how she planned to cut my hair.  First she flat ironed it, dry cut it, shaped it and put in more layers.

She’s only been here 8 months and she delightfully chatted about Newfoundland and her impressions of Calgary.  Extremely entertaining is how I would describe my time with her.  I was engaged the whole time, didn’t lose my focus and I was in a good mood when I left.  Very different from how I usually feel after spending 45 minutes in a chair:)

Wouldn’t you know I finally meet a hairdresser I enjoy when it’s my last haircut in Calgary? LOL

I walked through the air-conditioned mall to get to the exit closest to my house when I spotted a pair of sandals that called to me.  I tried them on. Comfortable.  Low heel.  Feminine instead of clunky.  Casual instead of dressy.  On sale for $20.00!  I snatched them up.

Now all I need is more sunny days during the week so I can wear a dress to work instead of pants:)

Hubby said “I thought you were going for a haircut?”

“I did go for a haircut.  And I saw these shoes on my way out of the mall.  Perfect to wear with dresses“.  I said with a smile.

“Your hair looks exactly like when you left.  And, you never wear dresses” he exclaimed with a bewildered look.

“I have half the amount of hair I had when I left.  Trust me, there was a LOT of hair on the floor when I left.”

“And I don’t wear dresses because I don’t have the right shoes to wear with them”.

Smiling happily I skip up the stairs.

Poor man.  Everything about me is such a mystery to him.  ROFL

  1. She cut your hair and took a lot off and he couldn’t tell? Good job for not wanting to smack him. LOL.
