NATIONAL ABORIGINAL DAY June 21, 2012
Today is National Aboriginal Day here in Canada and we had quite the event at work today.
We served 300 bison “hot dogs“, bannock with some delicious Saskatoon Berry jam, and we had some vegetarian foods for those that do not eat meat.
Along with the free food we provided there were some fabulous aboriginal dancers (Alert…the following photos are NOT of the dancers we had with us today!!!)
Grass Dancer
Jingle Dancer
Round Dance
and we had a couple of Metis singers, our favourite Blackfoot language teacher Louie and our own elder, Vinnia, provided the blessing.
ALSO, we had aboriginal artists display their beautiful talent for all to admire!
I am beat…lots of physical labour putting everything up and then taking it all down! Lots of work but lots of fun too:) Great time for one and all was the feedback I got from everyone that stopped by the CANE table to chat and enter their names in the prize draw.
