No, I am not referring to the book. Or the film.
But, I do have a few questions for you.
When you help someone, what do you expect in return for your generosity?
Gratitude? And exactly how do you expect someone to show you their gratitude?
Love/Like? Do you think they should love you, or at the very least, like you forever?
Repayment? Of which sort?
Do you help with money, ever, or just with service? Why?
Now, most people respond with “nothing”. I never, ever believe that response. No one, I repeat, no one, is altruistic. You may hide your expectations deep down inside, but, they are there. Just be honest with yourself.
When you give someone advice, do you expect them to take that advice and act on it?
Do you really believe people should behave just like you?
Did you know it is impossible to “walk a mile in someone else’s shoes”? There is no way your perception of the circumstances would ever be the same.
Did you know “no strings attached” does not exist? There are always strings because of the expectations.
